Framework for Success


Framework for Success is a Medicine Hat and area employment service delivered by Train Alberta Inc. under contract with the Government of Alberta. This structured, employment-focused program is designed to help residents aged 18+ transition into meaningful careers in the construction and related industries.


Framework for Success provides targeted support for unemployed or underemployed individuals through short-term training, personalized employment coaching, industry certifications, and direct connection to employers.

Participants gain the skills and certifications needed to thrive in today’s competitive construction job market — from technical training and safety certifications to career development and job placement support. Delivered both in-person and online, Framework for Success is built to meet you where you are and guide you confidently into Alberta’s workforce.


  • Opportunities for job try-outs with employers to gain on the job knowledge
  • Personalized career assessments and coaching
  • Career transition support
  • Govt-funded short courses in construction (eg: H2S, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS)
  • Resume development, job search, and interview preparation
  • Access to hidden job markets and employer networking events
  • Govt-funded employment readiness (PPE, tools, training supports)
  • Dedicated program staff for individualized support
  • Emphasis on long-term job retention and career advancement
  • Flexible delivery: in-person, virtual, or hybrid learning options
  • 90-day post-employment follow-up support

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the Framework for Success – Transition to Employment Services program, 

applicants must meet the following criteria:

Age & Location

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Reside in Medicine Hat or the surrounding area.

Employment Status

  • Currently unemployed or underemployed and available for full-time employment

Interest in Construction

  • Demonstrate a commitment to gaining a full-time employment in the construction or ancillary industries. 
  • Willing to explore various roles and complete Unpaid Work Experience (UWE) placements.

Commitment to Program

  • Ready, willing, and able to participate in full-time employment within 12 weeks of program entry. 
  • Committed to completing any required short courses and employment readiness activities.

Capacity for Full Participation

  • Financially stable during participation in the program (some supports are available). 
  • Able to attend in-person and/or online sessions as scheduled. 
  • Capable of working in physically demanding environments.

Assessment Approval

  • Successfully complete an intake assessment, including the Ready, Willing, and Able (RWA) evaluation and Service Needs Determination (SND).


The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services.
