Our Trauma-Informed Practice course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to support children and adolescents affected by trauma. Participants will:
Understand the roots of childhood and adolescent trauma: Explore various traumatic experiences and their individual, familial, group, and community consequences.
Consider the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs):Examine how ACEs can affect brain development, learning, behavior, and the ability to form relationships.
Identify various ways trauma may affect children and adolescents: Understand the implications of trauma at different life stages and its effects on growth and development.
Recognize the importance of creating a culture of safety: Learn strategies to establish calm, predictable, and supportive learning environments that foster trust and empowerment.
Show awareness of how relationships, responsibility, and regulation contribute to a trauma-invested environment: Develop skills to build strong, trusting relationships and implement practices that promote emotional regulation and responsibility.
Understand how to implement trauma-based support classroom strategies: Learn to design classrooms that promote comfort and safety, incorporating practices like art, sensory activities, mindfulness, and unstructured outdoor play.
